Let’s drink, sing and be merry
If you attend any of Tung Ann District Guild’s functions and hear Hokkien songs related to wine and brotherhood, it is most likely that Mr Ang Kah Joo, the Vice President of TADG is present.
Mr Ang sings not only Hokkien songs. He is able to sing Beijing opera too. Both songs and wine make up a great part of his social life. His bubbly character with his infectious singing, easily warms up the atmosphere in social gatherings, not to mention when there’s presence of wine.
Talk about wine, Mr Ang has a lot to tell. He is in the wine business. His family is a major importer of Chinese wine since his grandfather’s days. Mr Ang started to participate in clan activities in the 80′s when his business becomes more established. Mr Ang’s father was one of the donors for the building of the Tung Ann Association Building. Following his father’s footstep, Mr Ang now is an active figure in several associations and societies. He had served different roles in TADG before becoming a Vice President.
With rich experiences in clan matters, Mr Ang knows too well the hard work and ‘gungho’ spirit needed to deal with clan matters. To a cheerful Mr Ang, one should take life easily and it applies to clan matters.
